MEETING OF THE STEERING COMMITTEE OF THE PRAIA GROUP ON GOVERNANCE STATISTICS
On February 26, 2023, the Praia Group on Governance Statistics held its annual in-person meeting of the Steering Committee at the United Nations headquarters in New York, from 1:00 to 5:00 PM, on the sidelines of the 54th Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission. Present at this meeting were the Chairman of the Praia Group, Dr. João Cardoso, the Coordinator of the Praia Group Secretariat, Dr. José Eduardo Garcia, and representatives from partner organizations including UNDP, INEGI, and OHCHR. Partners IRD and the Deputy Coordinator of the Praia Group, Dr. Liliana Monteiro, participated online. The agenda items for this meeting were: - Presentation of activities carried out in the second half of 2022; - Presentation of the results of the online survey to members of the Praia Group; - Discussion and approval of the Terms of Reference (TOR) of the Praia Group Steering Committee; selection and approval of new committee members; - Presentation and discussion of the Work Plan of the Praia Group for 2023; - Discussion on the financing needs of the Praia Group; - Presentation of alternatives for mobilizing financial resources for the Praia Group. All agenda items were addressed and discussed by all participants, with conclusions compiled into an internal document of the Group.
